Tax Installment Payment Plan Service (T.I.P.P.S.)
The Town of Beausejour offers TIPPS (Tax Installment Payment Plan Service) for the payment of your property taxes. TIPPS is a monthly tax installment payment plan by which taxpayers can make consecutive monthly payments for taxes rather than a single annual payment.
Why we are offering TIPPS?
TIPPS will break this annual payment amount into monthly payments making budgeting for monthly expenses easier. To take advantage of TIPPS your account must be in good standing without arrears and have chequing privileges at a financial institution.
What are my monthly payments?
A monthly payment amount is calculated by adding on 10% to your most recent tax statement and dividing it by the number of installment payments (maximum 12) rounded up to the nearest dollar. TIPPS will begin September 15th, of the current year (for 12 payments) and continue on the 15th of each successive month until the account is paid in full by the tax due date. All outstanding amounts must be cleared before you participate in the TIPPS program, as prior year arrears are not eligible under the TIPPS program.
Example: Property taxes are $1200 for the year. Payments spread over 12 months; from September of the current year to August of the following year; monthly payments ($1200.00+10%/12) = $110.00 each month.
If there are any changes in your annual tax assessment, payment amounts will be adjusted accordingly for the last payment in August. At the time of the annual tax billing you will be notified of the total amount of installments paid to date and the calculation of the new installment amounts for the following year.
Cancellation / NSF
You may withdraw from the TIPPS plan by giving written notice at least two weeks before the next payment date. IT IS IMPORTANT to understand that if you withdraw or your plan is cancelled, all unpaid taxes become due and payable, and are subject to penalties in accordance with the tax levy by-law.
If funds are not available, a NSF charge of $50.00 will be applied. If any payments are missed 3 times, the Town of Beausejour has the option to cancel the agreement.
Changing Bank Accounts
If you change your chequing account, please advise the Town Office by providing a new VOID cheque, at least two weeks before the next payment date.
